My First Birthday

Today was my 1st birthday! I am so glad my momma didn’t return me after that first week last summer!

I have turned into a pretty well mannered boy considering my young age. I get to sleep on momma’s bed now!  It is so much more comfortable than when I used to take all those bad things under the bed and hide out under there!

I am still very curious though...

Most of the time I still pee like a girl but every once in awhile I lift my leg a bit. Momma has yet to catch me in the act though.

The big day...

Mommy took a furlough day for my birthday so she could have a 4-day weekend over Memorial Day. We started out the day at the dog park downtown. I was SO tired when I got home that I didn’t want to get out of the car!  I had to come in and lay down to catch my breath and then settled in for a long snooze.

We had a party that evening and invited my friend Simone and her parents over to celebrate.

Simone’s Mom Carley made us a yummy peanut butter doggy cake! Thank you so much Carley! You are a great baker!

Simone and I scarfed that cake down in under 30 seconds!

And then we got frosty paws ice cream. Yum Yum.

We had to wait very patiently though!

Ah, at last!

Needless to say, we both had great big poops the next morning!

Then it was time to open presents. I got a new Frisbee, a squeaky moose toy, and some treats!

All the big kids had ice cream too.  Simone and I really wanted to try their Haagen Dazs bars but no luck for us.

Then we played out in the backyard for awhile and had lots of fun.

Until....Gary threw the Frisbee over the fence. He was very clever though in retrieving it!

For those of you that don’t know, Simone had her back leg amputated a few months ago because of bone cancer. I am so proud of her…she gets around so well and is such an inspiration to us all. If you’d like to read about Simone’s journey, go to http://www.readysetsimone.com/

Thank you Gary, Carley and Simone for helping us celebrate!  We are so lucky to have such special neighbors!

Well, that’s all for now. See you next time!
